Volunteer Opportunities

Meet Neighbors, Make Friends

Each year BIP residents get together for projects around the lake. It's a great way to meet your neighbors, make new friends, and help better our lake and way of life.

We currently get together to identify and remove invasive exotic weeds, repair and maintain the dam, test water quality, assist with setup and removal of fireworks materials, and much more.  In the past, volunteers have also organized boat parades and sail boat races.

If you have a special talent or interest, or know of a company that would like to donate items and/or services, please contact us.

Big island Pond weed management needs help
The Big Island Pond Weed Management Oversight Committee welcomes lake friends and residents to participate in its extensive milfoil and fanwort management activities. With the active participation of many volunteers, the presence of variable milfoil can be found quickly and reported to the Committee who will confirm it's presence and direct efforts for it's removal.
Currently, out on the lake you may see the large Milfoiler pontoon boat as well as the smaller DASH unit harvesting. Where you see these boats, know there is a diver in the water you can't see. Please use caution in these areas for the safety of all.
Contact Jennifer Waselchuck if you think you have a variable milfoil in your area..
